***UPDATE*** November 5- I am removing the blog rush widget from Rambling Traveler because it didn't provide enough traffic to make it worthwhile.
I am testing a new feature in my sidebar, a widget that displays headlines from other blogs. Unlike my "From other Blogs" feature, I do not choose these headlines. They come to us through Blog Rush, a blog syndication network. I've selected the topic "travel" so I'm hoping the headlines will be for interesting articles that compliment what I write on Rambling Traveler.
Although it will be a nice resource for travel information, the main goal is to attract more traffic to my site. If you have a blog, you might want to consider adding this feature to your site, also.
How does it send traffic to your blog? Basically, every time someone visits your blog, and your widget shows up, you get a syndication credit. For each credit you earn, one of your headlines will be shown on someone else's Blog Rush widget. If the readers of that blog are interested in your headline, they can click on it and be directed to that article on your site.
Another way to earn credits is through a referral system. If someone adds Blog Rush to their blog after clicking the referral button on your widget, you will get a credit each time their blog shows the widget. You can also refer people through a direct referral link placed in a blog post or in an email. Not only do you get credit for the people you refer, but you get credit for the people they refer, up to 10 generations of referrals. It has incredible potential, and that is why I am testing it out.
